Every prayer,
every question,
one calm app.

Rumi keeps the day's five prayers right for where you actually are, opens the Qur'an with translation and recitation, points to the qibla, counts your dhikr — and answers what comes up in between, with the source shown.

Prayer times

The times your own mosque would give you.

Most apps ask you to pick a calculation method from a list of fourteen. Rumi reads your country and follows the authority people there actually follow — Diyanet in Türkiye, Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia, ISNA across North America, Karachi for South Asia, JAKIM/MUIS for Southeast Asia, the Egyptian General Authority for Egypt and the Levant. Your madhhab sets Asr. You can override all of it; most people never need to.

  • Reminders from 0 to 30 minutes before each prayer, or silence one prayer without silencing the rest.
  • A Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island counts down to the next prayer.
  • Adhan recitations or a plain notification tone — your choice, per device.
  • Times are computed on the phone, so they are right whether or not you have a signal.

What's inside

One app instead of six.

The things a Muslim day asks for, built natively and shaped so they don't get in each other's way.

Prayer times & reminders

Accurate times for your location, a streak that counts the prayers you've kept, and reminders you can tune per prayer.

Ask Rumi

An assistant for the questions that come up mid-day. It answers in your language and shows what the answer rests on.

Is it halal?

Point the camera at an ingredients label. Rumi flags gelatine, E-codes and anything doubtful, and says why.

Qur'an reader

All 114 surahs with Arabic, transliteration and translation. Download a reciter to read and listen offline.

Qibla compass

A compass that settles on the direction of the Kaaba, with the bearing in degrees for when you want to check it.

Digital tasbih

A counter with haptics and goals, eight bead sets to choose from, and a matching complication on the Watch.

Du'a collection

Supplications for morning, evening, travel, illness and worry — Arabic, transliteration and meaning together.

Ramadan companion

Suhoor and iftar times, the imsakiye for the whole month, a progress ring, and fasts logged day by day.

Widgets & Live Activities

Prayer times, the verse of the day, the daily du'a and the tasbih on the Home Screen, Lock Screen and in Control Centre.

Hijri calendar

The Islamic date next to the Gregorian one, the holy nights marked, and your Hijri birthday worked out.

Fasting & qada

Mark today's fast kept or missed, keep the count of what's owed, and watch the backlog come down.

Learning

The 99 names, a hadith each day, flashcards with a quiz, a reading plan, zakat maths and a mosque finder.

Ask Rumi

A question you'd rather not type into a search engine.

What breaks a fast. Whether you can combine prayers on a flight. What a verse you just read is actually saying. Rumi answers in the language you're reading in, and puts the verse or the hadith it drew on underneath — so the answer is checkable, not just confident.

  • Answers arrive as cards, not a wall of text: a verse is a verse, a step-by-step is a list.
  • Verses, hadiths and prayer times are pulled from the app's own data rather than written by the model.
  • Conversations stay on your device, grouped by topic, and you can delete any of them.

Rumi is not a mufti and does not issue fatwas. It explains what the well-known positions are and shows you where they come from. For a ruling that binds — a divorce, an inheritance, a vow — ask a qualified scholar you trust.

I'm flying at maghrib. What do I do about the prayer?
A traveller may shorten and combine — most scholars allow Maghrib and Isha together once the journey has begun.
وَإِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَقْصُرُوا مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ
An-Nisa 4:101
What Rumi asks for

Less than you'd expect.

An app you open five times a day should not be a data business. Rumi asks for what a prayer app genuinely needs and nothing beyond it.

  • Location is used to compute prayer times and the qibla. You can pick a city by hand instead and never grant it.
  • There is no account and no sign-up. Nothing you read, count or ask is tied to your name.
  • Prayer times, the Qur'an and the du'as work with no network at all.
  • No advertising SDK is in the app, so nothing you do here follows you elsewhere.
Questions

Before you download

Something we haven't answered?

Write to us
Is Rumi free?

Yes — the app is free to download, and prayer times, the qibla, the Qur'an reader, the tasbih and the du'a collection work without paying. A Premium subscription unlocks the Rumi assistant, the halal scanner and the full widget set. There are no ads in either case.

Which calculation method does Rumi use for prayer times?

Rumi picks the method your country's own authority publishes: Diyanet in Türkiye, Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia, ISNA in the United States and Canada, the University of Islamic Sciences Karachi across South Asia, JAKIM/MUIS in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei, the Egyptian General Authority of Survey for Egypt and the Levant, UOIF in France, SAMR in Russia, and the Institute of Geophysics Tehran in Iran. Your madhhab decides the Asr calculation. Both can be changed in Settings.

Does Rumi work offline?

Prayer times are calculated on the phone from your coordinates, so they are correct with no signal. The du'as, the Hijri calendar, the tasbih and the qibla work offline too. Surahs and a reciter's audio can be downloaded for offline reading and listening. The assistant and the halal scanner need a connection.

Can Rumi give me a fatwa?

No. Rumi explains what the well-known scholarly positions are and shows the verse or hadith behind them, but it is not a mufti and does not issue rulings. For anything that binds — divorce, inheritance, a vow, a medical question — ask a qualified scholar.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email and no password. Your settings, your dhikr counts and your reading progress live on your device.

How reliable is the halal scanner?

It reads the ingredients you photograph and flags known problem ingredients and E-codes, with the reasoning shown and a confidence level attached. It is a first check, not a certification: labels change, and 'may contain' is not the same as 'contains'. When it matters, the manufacturer or a certification body is the authority.

Which languages does Rumi support?

The app ships in 27 languages, including Arabic, Turkish, English, Indonesian, Malay, Urdu, Bengali, Hindi, Persian, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. The Qur'an translations and the du'a meanings are translated too, not just the interface.

Does Rumi work on Apple Watch and iPad?

Yes. The Watch app shows prayer times and carries the tasbih, and the iPad layout uses the wider screen rather than stretching the phone one. iOS 16.1 or later.

What does the Premium subscription include?

The Rumi assistant, the halal scanner, offline Qur'an audio, the complete widget set and the themes. It renews automatically unless you turn that off at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you manage it in your App Store account settings.

Where do the verses and hadiths come from?

Qur'anic text and translations, the du'a collection and the hadith of the day come from the app's own bundled data, and each is shown with its reference — surah and ayah, or the collection the hadith is from. The assistant reads from that same data rather than composing verses of its own.
